Why use a boat?
The boats give you a massive advantage in exploring the lake bed for features and for bait placement.

Water craft
By using the supplied prodding sticks you can feel the bottom of the lake with greater feel than you can get by using a marker rod. This gives you a far more accurate picture of the lake bed and position of the silt, gravel, hard spots etc including the silt depth! The prodding sticks also have 1ft marks so you can also check the depths of the bars, platauxs and holes.

Bait placement
When casting to a marker float or even to a clip on your spool you will be surprised how many feet off the spot you may end up. By using a boat you can lower your baitied rig over the side to the bottom of the lake and feel the lead down making sure there are no tangles on your rig. The accuracy of bait placement at Lac Unique is vital to catching. Even a bait boat can not be this accurate and saying the phrase 'close enough' isn't good enough! You can use the boat to place your baits under the overhanging trees and close to the reeds where casting is either impossible or very tricky.

Overhanging Trees

You can also spread your free offering around your rig or drop a pile right on top of your spot. So for £25 per week if you share it, get your rigs and bait on the hotspots... use a boat!

Boat Hire
The boats are hired and used at your own risk and you are NOT covered by our Public Liability.

The boat hire costs is £50 per week and can be shared by two anglers making only £25 per week each! There is a £50 refundable deposit require to hire the boats and is returned after inspection on your departure day at the boat swim.

Boat Hire Rules

  • Life jackets must be worn in the boat at all times.
  • Boats only to be used in daylight hours only.
  • 1 person in the boat at all times.
  • Over 18's only.
  • No standing in the boats.
  • Boats only to be used for feature finding, rig placement and baiting up and NOT for playing fish or fishing from.
  • No rods to be taken in the boats.

Boat Hire Instructions
You must wear a life jacket... this is vitally important. We recommend that you kneel in the boat and face forward using one paddle like your in a canoe.

It is best to spend a few hours at the start of your week using the prodding stick to find 3 or 4 spots that you want to fish. By doing this all at the start of the week you won't create any more major disturbance in your swim apart from a quick prod to rebait. Drop some markers on your spots so you can return to bait up with your free offerings of pellets, particles, boilies etc.

When you are ready to introduce your rig, leave the rod on your pod or get a mate to hold it and open the bail arm, never use the bait runner as you will get bad line twist. Row your baited rig to your marker and then lower it to the bottom. Remove the marker and return to your swim. Never take your rod out, if you loose it over the side you will wreck your swim for the entire week by trying to find it.
